Dramatic features single origin beans roasted to bring out a rich body while preserving sweetness. This roast style, suited for espresso, provides a smooth body and flavour intensity that pairs perfectly with milk. 

Our current selection features single origin beans from Guatemala's Finca La Bolsa with notes of cocoa, caramel and marzipan. It's like your favourite chocolate bar, but in coffee form.

MEET THE PRODUCERS

This particular lot comes from the El Cabro plot on the La Bolsa farm.

Finca La Bolsa was bought by Jorge Vides, a distinguished medical professional, in 1958. Prior to this, the land was not used for coffee production. Jorge won numerous awards for coffee production and for his services to the Huehuetenango region, and the main hospital in the coffee-growing community was named after him. In 2002, La Bolsa competed in the Cup of Excellence competition and placed second, scoring 94.98.

La Bolsa sits between two mountains, which provide a very stable, humid microclimate. Combined with the limestone-rich soils, this gives the coffee a unique profile, with a rich, syrupy body and plenty of malic and citric acidity.

In the North, and especially in Calderdale, we’ve often been limited in choice when it comes to high quality coffee beans. To see a new brand like Magnetic North emerge is not only exciting for coffee fanatics like myself, but also such a positive step for the region, giving us more options to explore and enjoy.

The coffee is fantastic, and my only hope now is that one day I’ll see a Magnetic North coffee shop open in Brighouse.
